Port Orford Lifeboat Station
Circa: 1934

Lifeboat Station: The station, located on what is known as "the Heads" or "Coast Guard Hill" was originally constructed in 1934. Working in conjunction with Oregon State Parks, Point Orford Heritage Society established a museum in the main barracks building. The site features the original officer's quarters as well as the barracks and other outbuildings.

Trails surround the station, providing spectacular ocean views, while leading to other important areas of the station such as the lookout and Nellie's Cove, where the boats were actually launched for rescues.

The museum is open from April 1 through October 31st, Thursday through Monday, 10AM to 3:30 PM. For further information please visit the Point Orford Heritage Society website.     (Photo courtesy: Port Orford Lifeboat Station)
